HIstory Button - Coin of Sviaroslav I

The first occurance of what would become the Ukrainian tryzub in the history of the Russ' is found on coins issued under Sviaroslav I, who conquered Khazaria and the eastern Bulgars, gaining tribute from them and adding them to the growing might of the Russ. This early version of the tryzub actually was associated with Khazaria before the Russ' appeared on the scene.
