Freeze Dried Tomato Powder

Pure concentrated tomato, freeze dried and powdered. Is it tomato paste? Tomato puree? Tomato sauce? That is up to you! The more water you add, the thinner the result, making this a very flexible ingredient in your emergency stash.

Our tomato powder is in a small solid mylar bag, an oxygen absorber popped in, as much air evacuated as possible with our Food Saver, then heat-sealed. This is how we do it for our own food rotation. 2 oz in each bag. Please note that our Magic Bullet gave out while processing the freeze dried tomato stuff so some of it is more "pellet" than powder, but when I tested it today it all rehydrated the same.

We introduced this to our regular household rotation and I am confident that I can use it for the next decade or so. There are many sellers of freeze dried food that advertise up to 25 years for all of their food but really only grains are marked that way by the big processors.

Please note that this food was prepared in a kitchen not subject to inspection by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and that the same kitchen is used to prepare foods containing milk, nuts, gluten, and basically everything else.
